Communications Coordinator for Public Health

Claire joined the Public Health team at Burness as a Communications Coordinator in February 2011. She provides communications support to the National Association of County and City Health Officials and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on projects such as the County Health Rankings and Food Safety Report (FIRMM), among others.

Prior to joining Burness, Claire worked as a Media Intern at Connecticut College’s Media Relations Department, a Social Media/Online Communications Intern at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s Alumni Association, and an Editorial/Marketing Intern at the University of Utah Press. She has also worked as a freelance writer for a variety of publications including College Femme, Patch, The Day, and Persephone Magazine, and as editor-in-chief of her alma mater’s student-run paper, The College Voice. She continues to write freelance opinion and activist pieces in her spare time.

Claire graduated with honors and distinction from Connecticut College with a double major in English and religious studies and a minor in art (photography) in 2010. She remains closely tied to the college by serving a three-year term as Young Alumni Trustee as well as volunteering as a class agent. Claire is currently pursuing a professional certificate in copyediting from the University of California at San Diego.
