Senior Associate, Health & Science Advocacy

Bridget DeSimone joined Burness Communications in November 2010, after nearly 14 years as a producer for the PBS NewsHour. As the program’s Health Producer, she coordinated coverage of the nation’s health care overhaul as it played out in Washington, DC and across the country. She also covered other issues, including HIV/AIDS, obesity, H1N1 and cancer. Prior to serving as Health Producer, Bridget covered a broad variety of major news stories, including the 2000 presidential election recount in Florida, the September 11th attacks, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Anthrax attacks.

As a Senior Associate at Burness, Bridget brings her expertise as a broadcast journalist to the Health and Science Advocacy Team where she provides communications strategy and media relations on a variety of projects including consumer health, health policy and global health. She is also a member of the Burness Health & Science Advocacy Institute, training health and science experts to deliver clear, effective messages to the media, policymakers, funders and other stakeholders.

Bridget is a graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in English and French. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband Mark and 2 sons. Bridget enjoys spending her free time with her family boating, hiking and biking.
