Ben joined Burness Communications in 1999. He leads the company's policy initiatives with non-profit organizations, developing and implementing strategies to advance our clients' ideas in the policy world. His work involves regular contact with Congress, the executive branch, interest groups, professional associations and think tanks. The Policy team supports a wide array of the company's clients, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Connect Project, an effort to help Foundation grantees build relationships with Members of Congress and other policymakers. Prior to joining Burness, Ben spent two years with the Washington, D.C., firm of Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds, and served as an aide to U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield.

A northern California native, Ben holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
