Adam Zimmerman

Associate, Public Policy

Adam joined Burness Communications as a Public Policy Associate in January 2011, working primarily on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s public health and childhood obesity portfolios. He comes to Burness following more than six years on Capitol Hill and in the nonprofit sector.

Adam spent two years working for Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, first as a key member of his historic 2004 re-election and campaign and subsequently as a legislative aide in his Washington, D.C. office. He then served as a lobbyist for NARAL Pro-Choice America and the American Association of University Women, two nationally-renowned nonprofit organizations fighting for gender equity on a host of economic, education, and health issues of importance to women. Immediately prior to joining Burness, Adam was a senior legislative staffer for the Russ Reid Company, where he represented more than a dozen nonprofit clients nationwide in their mission to secure federal funding and achieve policy objectives.

A New York native, Adam received his B.A. in History from Stony Brook University. He and his wife Julia live in the Maryland suburbs with their beloved American foxhound, Henrik. In their free time, they enjoy long walks, playing with their seven nieces and nephews, and rooting passionately for the New York Rangers.
