A Picture Is Worth 1000 Calories
A post on the blog World Mysteries slideshow in Men's Health last month caught my attention: It is the perfect illustration of a picture being worth a thousand words. They take 20 of the most unhealthy drinks in the U.S. and compare them to their more obviously harmful equivalents. Here is my favorite:
The blog calls this Cosi drink the “worst frozen mocha,” which certainly seems likely to me. At 1,210 calories and 240 grams of sugar, it is the equivalent of 41 Oreo cookies. I can’t even imagine eating 41 Oreos in one sitting!
The real point here is that the numbers, though overwhelming, cannot get someone’s attention in the same way that an image can. Thinking about how that amount of calories and sugar relates to something more widely recognized as unhealthy (41 Oreos) is really what brings it home.
It is something to think about – how can this same thought process be applied to your work?
UPDATE: The blog originally linked in this post no longer exists. For the original story in Men's Health, check out the link above.
