Since its founding in 1916, the Bloomberg School has advanced research, education and practice to create solutions to public health problems around the world.
Faculty, staff and students have helped eradicate smallpox, made water safe to drink, improved child survival, reduced the spread of HIV and uncovered the dangers of tobacco smoke.
Researchers and scientists are now discovering ways to eliminate malaria, increase healthy behavior, reduce the toll of chronic disease, improve the health of mothers and infants, and change the biology of aging.

NORC, known since its founding in 1941 as the National Opinion Research Center, has headquarters on the University of Chicago's campus, and offices in Chicago's downtown Loop, Washington, DC, Bethesda, Maryland, and Berkeley, California, as well as a field staff that operates nationwide. NORC's clients include government agencies, educational institutions, foundations, other nonprofit organizations, and private corporations. Although NORC's national studies are its most well-known, our projects range from local to regional and international.

The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement is the premier award for environmental science, environmental health and energy conferring great benefit upon mankind.
Through their work, Tyler Laureates have focused worldwide attention on environmental problems by their discoveries and the solutions that resulted.
Tyler Laureates receive a $200,000 annual prize and are presented a gold medallion at ceremonies in Los Angeles. The awardees are selected and awarded annually by the Executive Committee. The Tyler Prize was established by the late John and Alice Tyler in 1973 and is administered by the University of Southern California.
